This 616 sq. ft. rental apartment came with a mix of gray-painted walls, mismatched light fixtures, and limited space—especially in the living room. The bedroom lacked ceiling lighting and felt more utilitarian than inviting. The goal was to transform the unit into a modern, coastal, hotel-inspired retreat while also weaving in subtle, meaningful accents that reflect the tenant’s faith in Jesus Christ.

To maximize style and function without altering the structure, The Filipovic Group introduced thoughtful design choices that elevated every room. In the living area, corner curtains and a curved sofa created softness and flow, while the decision to forgo a TV kept the focus on the breathtaking ocean view. In the bedroom, floor-to-ceiling curtains, a statement wallpapered headboard wall, wide nightstands, and hanging sconces gave the room a luxurious, hotel-quality feel. Throughout the apartment, faith-inspired touches were integrated seamlessly: Bible books in both the living room and bedroom, an abstract artwork representing “7x70” (a symbol of forgiveness) in a soft coastal palette, and modern depictions of Jesus walking in the wilderness and on water that tied in sand and sea tones with the coastal theme.

To preserve the coastal hotel feel, the design emphasized light, texture, and flow. The office was discreetly tucked away so it remains hidden upon entry, ensuring the first impression is the large windows and bright living area, not a desk. Soft coastal tones and clean modern finishes tied each zone together, reinforcing the boutique, hotel-inspired aesthetic.

The final design achieved a cohesive, modern coastal aesthetic with the warmth and polish of a boutique hotel. Every space feels intentional and inviting, with faith-inspired accents that quietly point back to Christ without interrupting the coastal theme. The apartment is now not only beautiful and functional, but also deeply personal—capturing both the serenity of the ocean and the spirit of its resident’s beliefs.
